WOW!!! confusion confusion

Way too close for comfort. Reminds me of years ago when I was riding my motorcycle, a woman ran a stop sign and hit me broadside. I saw it coming and jumped into the air, flew over the hood of the car and rolled to a stop in a front yard. Had one small bruise on my leg where I hit her antenna (they were still up front then) and grass stains all over me. Cycle didn't do as well, though. I was surprised by how far I rolled/slid on the grass. (I was only going about 25 mph)

Ran back to strangle the woman but she was worse off than me. Her car was running rough, she was distracted, never even saw me. As far as she was concerned, I fell out of the sky. She about had a heart attack, saw the bike go down, didn't see me go over her and was sure she'd killed me.

When I walked up she was in shock...clenching the steering wheel, staring straight ahead and said, "is he dead?" She didn't realize "he" was me standing there. Took a while to get her calmed down.

The second time (!) I was STOPPED at a red light and got rear ended! I saw her coming in the mirror, jumped off sideways and watched my cycle get shoved out under the light into traffic. Nobody else hit it and there was little damage. Again this time the woman claimed she "didn't see me!" I said, OK lady but what about stopping for the F&^&*g RED LIGHT???

A while later I sold the cycle, didn't ride again for over 30 years. Now that I live away from the city, I have a cycle (1982 GL500 Honda) again but I ride it very, very carefully. Two strikes already...

PLEASE, everyone, make a special effort to watch for motorcycles!

Hey I used to have a GL500. Now it's a GL1200. But if you ride motorcycles you are invisible. Happy to be alive.

Some I had to watch two or three times to comprehend what I had seen.

As for being invisible, I have owned about thirty motorcycles and scooters. have low-sided a couple times, high sided once. I subscribe to the theory that all motorcyclists fall into one or both of two categories:
(1) Those who have crashed.
(2) Those who are going to crash.

But, it was because of the HEAD ON that I used to sign my posts on scooter and MC forums with "Ride as if you are invisible". It does not make for a relaxing, leisurely ride. But, it is a concept for staying alive.

That was why I quit for so long... I could not enjoy the ride being so preoccupied with other drivers as opposed to just keeping it on the road...

I never ride snowmobile trails on the weekends for the same reason. Quit that for a long time after I saw a snowmobile that high sided (literally) and was hanging in the trees 8 ft off the ground. Driver was killed..."alcohol was found to be a contributing factor."

Like Mark says: ride like you're invisible. And like Clint (actually Dirty Harry) said: A man's got to know his limitations...

The one I liked was the guy in the truck that came out the front window and was alive walking around.
