On my way thru Utah, was following giant rain storms, stopped to let them go and then resumed. On a narrow road, I got too close to the fog line (white line) and there was no shoulder, the right dually started to get into the mud and then pulled the entire rig toward the ditch. It started to roll over but I caught it wqith a hard right turn and it righted the coach for a second, The mud was over 1 foot deep and I had almost no directional control. Settled into the middle of the ditch but could not avoid an oak tree. A limb cought the winshield right at the A pillar, shattered the windshield, snapped back and broke the outer glass of the first slider side window.

Had to be pulled out by a large rig, he did damage to the front bumper. put shipping tape over the damaged windshield and went to town to clean off all the mud. We are now continuing to Denver,have a replacement window due there by Tuesday. Still assessing all the damage.

We are all fine and lucky it didn't Roll.

Glad to hear that you are OK. Hopefully the damage is only to glass and no structural damage was done. I think it was Nick C who had his bumper damaged and had difficulty finding a replacement.

Thanks everyone for you concerns and kind wishes! No real structural damage, the bumper is bent but I think I can straighten it. The fiberglass nose piece has a break in it at the top about 4 inches long, that should be easy to repair once the windshield is replaced. The lighted plastic Barth door handle is missing, some damage to roof components.


The double glass slider winndow on the front passenger's side is also broken but only the outer glass, still will have to replace at least the slider dual pane window. Large awning is badly damaged and will not open. The mechanism is quite messed up.

Am in Denver now and have an appointment for the windshield repair on Tuesday!

Yes Jane was in the right seat, She was covered with glass fragments but we were able to clean her up and the area around her. No cuts, just a very crazy mess. could have been a lot worse!

Good thing I have dual pain windows, The right side slider outside was shattered also, but because of double pane, we still have one good glass there. I will be looking to remove all the fragments from the slider as they will be blowing off as I drive.

I covered both broken glass areas with clear packing tape. On the windshield, I taped both sides using a lot of tape. We have been able to drive 400 or so miles without any further loose of glass inside or out. The side window is starting to fall apart so that will have to be addressed.

Glass shop appointment at 2:00 PM today, I hope the new windshield comes in and is good. I can deal with everything else upon my return home next week.

WOW close encounter of the worst kind, so glad to hear you guys are OK. The pants can be replaced.

Sounds like you ended up in pretty good shape considering what could have happened. Being able to drive away had to be a great feeling.
