We have been "parked" in a very nice RV park here in north Phoenix for the winter. It is convenient to our kid's and grandson's house and we have had a great time. Great way to avoid the winter at home, but I would never call it "camping". I sometimes frequent the RV.net site and I always wonder why people in motorhomes and trailers call what they do camping. Heat, AC, TV, and all that make for a comfortable existence when not at home but RVing is not camping to me, not even when we've been boondocking in the desert.
I'm thinking of trying to talk grandma into a motorcycle and camping tour of the UK and have been on the net looking at "camping" over there. Certainly different than the RVing that we do now. We both have lots of wilderness camping/canoe tripping experience but I don't know if I can get the old girlscout to buy into this one.
Gotta give it a try though. Lots of interesting places to pitch a tent are run by rural pubs over there.

There is tent camping and there is RV camping. Obviously two different worlds! Although there is some overlap, considering that many campgrounds that host both tent-packers as well as RV'ers.

2 big differences... bears, freezing rain/snow. no fun in tents!

I want one of those front plates that says "This is NOT camping!" Thumbs Up

The UK thing sounds cool, though.

Spain, South of France, Italy. I see olive trees, vineyards, castles, shaded outdoor bistros, sunshine and rightside traffic patterns.

We did a couple of month long trips to New Zealand a few years ago (also a GREAT place to camp)--- however the other- side-of-the-road driving is something that one had to re-establish in their mind every time we got behind the wheel. Although we found that relatively doable, and without major issue, our ability to be safe as a pedestrian was not as easy and we had some very close mis-steps! Motorcycles do not have the requirement to get in on the "wrong" side of the vehicle thus giving your brain a little kick start for the task of doing things differently,--- maybe it wouldn't be necessary on a motorcycle.

Somewhere I have a cartoon of two polar bears contemplating an igloo. One says, "I I love those things - crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside!"

from my own experience I have found european campgrounds more tent friendly than in the US. Usually no hookups, showers might be coin operated, no picknick tables, but grassy sites and you "claim" your own size spot. And if it is too nasty, you can always get a room somewhere.
