I figured I'd better get this in a new thread so here's my question again. Has anyone been to Cheaha State park in Alabama? It looks great on the website and we're wondering when the best time of year would be for that area. Also, does it fill up during race weeks?

Been there, done that. Actually, I live about 2-hours away. There are two campgrounds. You want the "upper" campground. I have only camped at the "lower" and cannot recommend it. Poor facilities, inconvenient access and the most unlevel sites I have ever witnessed. There seems to be much better accomodations at the other area. Very nice lodge with a stunning view and an all-you-can-gorge buffet.

Don't know how full it'l be for a T'dega race.

If anyone is looking for a great Octber getaway, Jack rabbit campground on Lake Chatuge, Hayesville, N.C. is as good as it gets. It's a National Campground ($15.00} for sites on one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in N.C.
