Although highway 441 remains closed South of Gatlinburg, I was on the Cherohala Skyway two days ago. There is one lane of traffic allowed around the washout site, near the NC/TN line. Actually, neither LANE is open. Concrete barriers force traffic onto the inner shoulder, with a portable traffic signal light set up at either end of the site. The only Gat-PF tourist attraction to get my money this week was the Ripley's Aquarium -- Excellent. Most of the rest are a rip off. My companion was amazed the next day to tour Biltmore. | |||

That's why I like the Big South Fork NRRA. No tourist lines, just plain beautiful nature. And yes we got bears and cliffs and trails and cabins and campgrounds too. And lots of horseback trails, a real cool ATV area (Brimstone) with more camping in Huntsville TN.
