The partially restored Regency got to go on its first outing last weekend – an annual trip to the Watkins Glen Vintage races. In the past I have tented or rented a ‘cheapy’ RV…not this year! I got to take the thirty five footer.
I finished up the new brakes just days before – the rear calipers were in bad shape with an empty master cylinder due to a hole in the brake line. Rebuilt calipers all around with new pads and 4 liters of brake fluid!
The drive to the Glen was interesting, 30 -35 mile an hour cross winds. The Barth took it pretty well, much better than other RVs I have been in.
We set up camp next to some friends with a 1 year old ‘6 digit’ motor home. My wife was impressed by the other RV, she liked the Barth and was very happy about buying it but she didn’t know anything about Barths. As the week end wore on person after person stopped and commented on the Barth, the usual being ‘they don’t make them like that anymore’.
Our friends from next door climbed in and played with solid cherry cabinets…”nice…real wood”. They checked out the wheels and were surprised that the 22.5” were not covers but real forged aluminum wheels…
By the end of the weekend my wife had a lot more pride in the Barth….me too!
The ride home was great – I was very impressed with the ride one the restored suspension and new brakes. I have a couple more small things to fix up and then she will be completely functional. I am already contemplating painting it next year…(no swooshes!)

Sounds like a great time. If you're into it, maybe you could start thinking about Talledega next fall. We have a 3 lot compound just outside of turn 2, with folks across and down from us, so we party hardy.
