Jim and TereLet's see where gas goes -
Well said, Bruce. My question is, "How long are we going to take it?". We have a great country but the oligarchs are trying their best to ruin it.

I don't think they are trying to ruin it. They are simply gaining wealth and power. Sadly, it happens to be turning us into a two-class, Third-World country.

Jim and TereBill H, well said, too. When I said 'ruin it', I meant ruin it for one of the two classes. You can guess which one I'm in.

vdubnutLocal 76 Station... $3.89 for 87, $4.09 for 89, $4.19 for 92. Diesel was at $4.09 I believe.
I fear my son will never know what a cross country road trip is like, no way I can afford to travel.
And what's up with Campsite rates?? Sometimes (depending on the destination)it's cheaper to drive my car and stay at a hotel. At least I'm glad the Barth is self contained... the Vintage Trailer wasn't, so dry camping was out.

I may take this summer off from trying to actually use the Barth, and just make her purdy.

ccctimtationLet me put this in perspective for Barthing. One engine plus gen-set=6-10mpg@60+mph. Cruising on the river 2 engines plus gen-set 1mpg@10mph. The difference is that I can sit on my back deck and watch beautiful scenery. I am still looking for the vehicle that will let me tour the Country in comfort, meanwhile I will watch the scenery from the aft deck and take short cruises.
5000 miles @ $2/gallon, 10mpg=$1000 5000 miles @ $4/gallon=$2000 storage for the coach is probably greater than the cost of gas, depreciation is greater than the cost of gas. If you enjoy the lifestyle and the freedom the fuel cost is pretty marginal.
