Good point, never really thought about the steel lines, geez now another concern!! There is only one steel line 1/2 diameter and runs outside the frame, will have to take a closer look but it will be difficult to get a peek at the ID. The steel line from the mechanical pump to the carb, looked pretty clean at the carb end.

Believe 88 knows, it is being considered for sale! Got the new alternator installed, fought me every inch! However it works well has good voltage and no whine!!

Went out for a ride to warm up the engine for an oil change, there was a noise coming from the drivers side front wheel area. Took about a half hour but it went away, believe it is/was a ridge around outer edge of the rotor that rusted and was rubbing on the brake shoe, finally wore enough to stop making noise. Will jack it up and check it out just to be sure.

The carburetor repair, must have been necessary, there defiantly is more power and a smother running engine.

Have not changed the oil yet got a bit lazy, thinking of going out for pizza and beer!!

Steve, are the filters for that new fuel filter assembly, available at retail stores or does it only come from Summit. Only have one spare, thinking more would be safe for the first trip.

Will take several spares for the carburetor and inline filters.

Now that you have cleaned up your system you won't need filters any more! ROTFLMAO

I got my spares from Summit, never tried to outsource them. They last a long time unless you get some really bad gas. Sounds like the coach is settling in nicely. When you get them fancy chairs from Kevin you'll hve a regular chick magnet cute coach. Thumbs Up

Steve, would just be great if my spouse would travel in 88, but so far no luck. Still a bit apprehensive over the reliability of 88, hope this trip goes well, will tow the Miata just in case. No back up camera in 88 and no back window, unable to see the Miata at all, that is bit concerning too.

Dick, gonna try to make make your thought work, if not just might break down and buy a camera.

Well got the ole wheel off the drivers side of 88, the rotor is a bit warped rubs, when it is used and gets warmer the heat must allow the caliper to open enough to stop the noise.

Should have the rotor surface turned, but there is not enough time to get that job completed before Michigan and because it does stop after a bit of time, am not to worried about it.

It was hot here today got up to 99F changed the oil and then started the generator, turned on the roof A/C, fired up the main engine and went out for a ride for about 45 minutes, in town and on the road, 88 did well, temperature stayed about 200 on the engine outlet gauge and less than half the dash readout. the roof A/C kept the cabin pretty cool not super cold but within reason, The front fans would not work they did on the last ride. Other than that ole 88 is defiantly ready for the trip to Michigan!!!

Not much of an 88 day, did check out the LP system, was surprised to see the gas valve has been on all this time. Lighted the gas burners all worked fine, turned on the furnace, the blower works but could not get it to ignite. The water heater would not ignite either, so a few more problems to work out. Neither will interfere with Michigan.

Checked around for a Mirror as Dick suggested, did not find one that would work yet. Looked at Back-up cameras, geez now they tie them into your smart phone, do not want to be screwing around with my phone driving down the interstate in Chicago.

About all that is needed for Michigan is to figure out why the front fans quit working, transfer a bunch of stuff from Nose, hook up the Miata and hit the road!!!

Going to leave in the morning Monday, if it is an easy trip might do it in a day, GPS says about 8 hours, probably 10 by RV, and through Chicago traffic. Planning on an over night somewhere, either in Manistee or on the road.

Gave up on the mirror, just could not find one that would be big enough for my old eyes.

Bought a back up camera, not happy with the price, and the screen is a bit small. Do like the way it works all wireless, camera is solar powered, just needed an initial charge, Push a button on the monitor when one wants to view behind. Lots better than the one in nose.

Still have a few things to get done before the GTG, but just can't seem to get going.

Did the GTG in Michigan, the only incident was a tire, in an earlier post I bragged on the valve stem extensions from Farm and Fleet, well the one on 88 vibrated broke off and emptied the tire!! Funny but it was not noticeable on the road and unable to identify when it happened or how long 88 was on one rear tire on the passenger side. Got a new tire locally.

Have been puttering a bit, pulled a spark plug, the thing was full of carbon and black. Did the cardinal sin and put smaller jets in primary throttle kept the existing stems. Went out for about an hour, drove on the high way and in town, now have brown sparks plugs. Hope it is not t o lean running.

It was a pain not having the front fans to cool my face, the electrical stuff has bothered me, so started to investigate again. In an earlier post, talked about the lack of power to fridge, well found out why! There is a whole buss under the dash in the access that does not have power, includes the power mirrors, and heaters for same, fridge, fans, and black heater ( What is that?). Jumped power to the buss and all those things work!! Now need to figure out why there is no power to that buss!

There has always been a power draw on the chassis battery, found it to be the heater fan. It is not wired correctly, runs all the time, ignition on or off, heater on or off. Another thing to figure out!

Possibly a heater in the black water (sewage) storage tank for sub-freezing conditions.

That powerless buss, believe but unable to verify used house battery power, but it was somehow disconnected. Gonna change it to chassis power, except the fridge, jumped it awhile ago gonna leave it on the house batteries. Also gonna add the heater blower to this buss, hook it all through a relay to the ignition.
