Being able to move around and find the right spot will be great. I've made up a list of places along R19 in the area suggested. We are now going to plan a short trip that way in early spring to check out the area. Thanks for all the advice.

Here in Cape Coral, Florida on the Gulf Side 35 miles north of Naples and next to Fort Myers, it is still a buyers market.

With the amount of foreclosures, our property which 5 years ago was fair market valued at $280,000 is now around $65,000.

Our insurance carrier, USAA informed us if we sell our home, and purchase another, we would need to be 50 miles inland from the coast to be insured. This was after Hurricane Charley in 2004 and Wilma in 2005.

But for the cost of home heating oil up North in the winter, one could rent something down here and have a warmer winter experience with plenty of sunshine.

Corey, we will certainly look you up when we come that way.

At this point we didn't have any thoughts of purchasing for a while but with the sounds of those prices we might have to reconsider.

Tom & Jillene,

I've bought and sold house/apt houses my entire life. I swore I would get out of real estate when we sold our NH house last year. I bought another "spare" here last Dec and I've got an offer in on another right now. Just can't ignore the amazing deals.

One of our neighbors is from Wisconsin (some college town near Oshkosh). His name is Bernie and Maria Prutz. Nice people, I could hook you up. They have a lot of real estate up there too.

Figured I would update this one.

With some great suggestions from Corey and after a week of exploring the Nature Coast area, we have decided on Crystal River as our new "home".

Now we've got about six months to downsize and get ready for this new adventure. Looking forward to being "mobile" and being able to do a lot more exploring Tooling Along

It was great having T&J visit for a few days and even more cool that they'll be neighbors soon.

They were the first to use my new Barth parking only site across the street. At some point I will put a 30amp plug over there too!
