Not sure if this site has been mentioned before. I was trying to find alternates to a bad route, found there are many worse, none better and then found more enlightenment to dim my delusions.
http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/trafficinfo/ You click on a state, get a link for traffic, construction etc.
