Don't believe it. Banks are good headers, but not as good as their salesmen say. No headers on earth will do that. I've installed blowers that did not do that, for Pete's sake. If you get a 454 and want some more power, I've got some numbers.

Dave alludes to Fords running cooler. Newer they do not, but Chevy 454s need to have everything right to run cool as they age. Another weakness of the 454 is the starter, but that is get-around-able. An older 454 needs some trickery to get it right, but they are really good if you are up to it.

The front end on P30s is often maligned, but can be made pretty good if you do the right stuff.

Since you mentioned a 30 footer, consider looking for a 30 foot tag Regal. The tag axle really makes them more stable in a straight line.

Not too sure you will find a Regency 28 or 30 foot.

Tags were used on a few 30s, and 32, 33 and 34 Regals, and the elusive Royale. All gassers. Later non-P30 gassers did not have tags.

The Breakaways and Regencies did not have tags nor did they need them.

Dave will contribute the best information on diesel pusher models.

The 28 P30 has a different wheelbase than the Breakaway.

The Regencies are nicer in almost every way. They are heavier, cost more, and have more power. I have only driven a couple, but they seem to ride better than the Breakaways. They also have a more rounded roof radius where the roof meets the side. This, unfortunately, reduces the space in the overhead cabinets. I believe the smallest Regency is 32 ft. There are more types of floor plans available in Regencies.

If you look at the images page you will see a lot of ways to tell them apart.

It would be nice to hear from a Regency owner who formerly owned a Breakaway.

As a Regency owner and one who has looked at and driven Breakaway's I can tell you that the Breakaway's I looked and drove were VERY NICE, and the owners should be very proud of them. Sure there are differences, but in many cases Regency's cost nearly 100 grand more and therefore should have advantages. Our unit was at the very top of the price structure, and did provide the owner with POWER, SUPER RIDE, GUIET INTERIOR SOUND LEVEL, LOTS OF STORAGE COMPARTMENTS, and many OPTIONS. With this said I know there are a lot of wonderful NON-REGENCY Barth's out there, and loved by their owners. That is GOOD, and FUN IS GOOD.

As always, the market rules.

You get what you pay for. At least in the broader sense.

We owned a 25' Regal, which sold us on our 36' Regency. Shopping the 36', the same day we toured a 35' front engine bluebird, priced 10K higher, guess which is in our garage.
I didn't notice any difference, in the side/top radias, between the two models, of the Barths.
