Hello Barth enthusiast,
We are just now starting to restore our 1972 Barth and wanted to find out if there are any new electrical documents regarding engine, cabin and/or Orin generator. I purchased the CD from Bill many years ago and it just didn't have what I needed at that time.
Regarding the engine what is the Barth modeled after so maybe I can follow a Chevy or Cadillac wiring. I believe the engine is a Cadillac engine but not sure.
Please guide me in the right direction

Duane88Hi Junk to Jewels
Hey take a quick look at how to use Photo Bucket for your pictures. Then take a snapshot of your data tag, I think on the older Barth's it might be on the dash. There our folks here who can tell you from the VIN what chassis you have and give you the stuff you need...Good luck, its great when folks restore these older units.

Steve VWGood luck with your new project!
In late 72 Barth changed to larger windshields which are still available. It looks like you have the smaller ones. Be very careful with them, as far as we know they are not available anywhere, new or used.
The most common chassis for the gas coaches was the GM P37 chassis. The smaller ones often had drum rear brakes, 400 CID engine and GM T400 transmission. Those over 25 ft were usually rear disc brakes, 454 CID engine with the T400 trans.
Engine/chassis wiring will resemble GM 1 ton trucks or vans of the day. Coach wiring is extremely variable, good luck.
Good luck!

KevinThat does not appear to be a VIN or Data tag number Please check the home page galleries to see examples of what we are looking for.

Duane88I think that is the Barth build number,69 chassis and unit 779. might be the 10th or 1st month too. The data tag on Ricky's unit has about the same kind of numbers. Never could find a VIN or his unit either.
I bet SteveVW is correct it is a Chevy P30 wonder what engine, best bet it is a small block.
Rock Auto has all the parts if it is a P30.

junk_2_jewelsWell that was differently the VIN number I got it off the title and reg, I am still looking for the data tag. I found a department of housing tag but still looking for a data tag
I believe it has rear drum brakes.
I found a bunch of manuals and documents for cabin electrical when I get a chance I will scan them all and get them here

junk_2_jewelsI have noticed that I am missing the Divi-charger multi battery isolator located on the firewall any suggestion what I should replace it with
I have the manual for the old one 70Amp single alternator dual battery, Found some on ebay and amazon

Duane88I replaced mine with a battery separator I got at O'Reiley auto parts. They had to look it up in a parts catalog, a good counter guy will find it for you. I got a 70 amp for $75.00
I also bet the tag you're showing is all you will find for that year.
Sorry a better term for this device is Battery Isolator. EBay seems to have all kinds at a better price than I paid.

Thank you for sharing your new finds. Please go
here to read up on our picture posting procedures. As you know Barthmobile is member supported with no advertisement banners. (I see you have a member support badge.) Our Photobucket procedure is simple, but will take some instruction. It is also a way for us to keep photos organized and filed.
I do not have a specific folder for your Barth since the data tag is still unknown. I am in a diligent search and request to get you a folder. Please report any further findings. On the other hand when you send the documents to:
barth_upload.61972@uploads.photobucket.com
Please go to
Bill Napolitano'spage to get the correct spelling for our documents folder. You will understand better after reading my updated instructions. Folder name must be exact match, I am not sure wheather it has an s or is in lower case. Please check before sending mail to limbo.
Private message sent also.

But we do know of one person who always thinks of the what ifs. Camp Barth is a big toad but is going to be spending a sedentary life style as my Deer Camp. I saved her from complete demolition and she will serve me well. She is a towable toad with good tires and brakes. I am working toward taking out those priceless smaller windshields. I sent up salvaged aluminum sheets with my cousin when he came to pick up some other priceless treasures. I plan on replacing with that aluminum and insulating inside. I will lose my large picture windows and have less heat loss and some one will gain replacement windshields that are impossible to find.
Also remember to check if there are things you may need that I can part with???? Never hurts to ask.

Steve VWWow. Dana you are a good Barth brother. Can't say I blame you for replacing leaky cold windows in your climate. Someone will get a rare find there for their old coach.
Speaking of old coaches, this one has to be almost the oldest we know of. The coaches came out in 70 and this one has a build date of late 69, wow.
Good luck with this coach. Keep us posted on the progress.
