Keith,

I added a link in your post to the great pictures you sent me of this vintage coach. Wow, a goucho bed. I have only seen a couple of those. I have talked to a few folks who wish they could buy a class A with a gaucho bed.

Your coach may be a senior citizen but it sure looks like home to me.

Thanks agair for the great pics.

IB1. Our previous SOB had one. We miss it when company visits. Don't miss it on bigdips, though.

Hi Keith,
Nice looking Barth, I have an older one 1976. A while back one of the members here was wanting to know if they ever made a Barth with a double bunk (one above the other) I noticed in your great pic that your Barth has a set up like this, great for storing kids.
Enjoy, Ralph Glover

PS. I didn't mean that my Barth is older than
Keiths, I just have an older Barth also.

Is the "Classic Auto" plate for cheaper insurance? Out here in New York you can get Classic Auto insurance for next to nothing. If the vehicle is over 25 years old it is called an antique and a classic at 20 years.

The catch is that you can only put on a few thousand miles a year and it can not be your primary ride. Most motorhomes fall under those two headings regardless of age.

HI BILL
in texas classic plates has no effect on insurance as for as i know, to get classic plates the vehicle must be over 25 years old & cost $15.00. personalized plates are $40.00 a year. antique plates must be over 25 years old and used exclusively for exhibition, club activities, parades, and other functions of public interest. and in no case be used for regular transportation and cost is $50.00 for vehicle 1921 or later, $40.00 for vehicle before 1921 each for 5 years.

Depending on the state, specialty tags for antique/classic/historic vehicles can be a real bargain with no real operational compromises......

In MD, I pay $52 for a two year Historic Vehicle tag, several hundred dollars less than a regular vehicle of that weight.

The tag restricts my use to "exhibitions and special events", and it cannot be used for "routine transportation".

With a straight face I can say that every trip in my Barth is indeed a "special event", and I enjoy "exhibiting" it in the campgrounds and on the road and talking to folks to ask about its history.....At 8mpg or less, I have no intention to use it for "routine transportation".

In social conversations with county police and state troopers, I've inquired about the letter-of-the-law and my own viewpoint on this.....and each time I'm told that it's pretty much the vehicle owner's call...they have more important things to do....

My insurance carrier didn't care about the tags, and it made no difference for premiums.

For the small amount of exposure the Barth has on the public roads, and the fuel taxes paid at 8mpg, I feel I'm still paying my fair share.........In a few years, when I find my perfect Breakaway and hit the road full time, it'll be different......
