Bitter-sweet experience watching my first RV drive away from my house. What a way to enter the world of RV'ing! Negative aspect of having a Barth as your first is that we are having a heck of a time finding the quality we have been accustomed too. There are lots of new and improved features on most everything now (Fuel injection for one) but the tank-like solidity is just not too common it seems.

Spotted a couple of Barth's here that we'd really like to do the touch-feelie's on but haven't had the time to do a road trip to check them out. We're spoiled and not ashamed to admit it. :-)

Ron,
Hope you kept the double-male power cord...that's one thing that will fit any rig you get in the future. If you forgot to keep it, let me know. I have one too (maybe it has something to do with Alabama Power) and can send you the wiring diagram and three-view drawings should you need it.

LOL! The infamous M-M power cord. I pulled that out from the storage bin when I was showing the buyer the coach. He's known me for a long time and just grinned. When I started elaborating on it's use, his son-in-law kicked in with "Heck, I have one of those, I know exactly what it's for"....the legend lives on. :-)

The Barth was being cantankerous though. He said the generator kept shutting down on him. Did this several times then ran fine for the last couple of hours of usage. I had experienced a shutdown a couple of times when hitting a sharp bump, but this time it was on open road. Hmmmm? Going to make it right whatever it takes though.

I claim FAME as I was the author of the MALE TO MALE cord question. I remember reading his post and thinking, WOW THAT COULD BE A SHOCKER, OR A LIFE TAKER. "GOT TO LOVE THAT ron". Dale

Ron caught a lot of gas on that one, and it can be dangerous. But I remember in our pre-Barth days when a freak 17-inch snowfall took our power down for six days that I was glad I had made one to power the fridge and furnace fan from a portable generator. I will miss Ron stories unless, of course, he stays with us while in his Barthless state.

I've known Ron for neigh 30 years and count him as one of by best, true friends, ever. I bought his Barth Regal. My family and I are tickled pink. Ron has always been a task master on anything he approaches. I dare you to find a speck of road grit on any one of his motorcycles. It seems he approached this Barth Regal the same TLC and installed many nice upgrades. NASA taught him well. I looked at many newer models but knowing, firsthand, Ron's ethic, it was a no brainer for me.
Yes, I had a generater problem on the 350 mile trip home but Ron, being Ron, is making everything right. My generator guru is giving the genset a total tuneup and hopefully its not in the electronics as he mentioned this is sometimes, but rarely, the case with the model 7K Koler that I have.
Ron, once we get back from the rimfire Nationals, you and Donna are most welcome to use the coach to scout out any Barth replacement RV as long as you keep giving me first refusal on your hand-me-downs.:-)
Many Thanks,
Don Gill

Hey Don,

Ron has been a good friend of ours here on the website and has provided us with some valuable knowledge as well as some great laughs. As we add you to our Bath family, we hope we don't loose him.

I have a 28 foot Regal just like Ron's/yours and we find it to be the perfect size for the vacationing we do. I am sure after a while you be as comfortable with it as your family car.

You guys take note: don mentioned the rimfire nationals........he ain't goin to look around. National level competative marksman and don't mind grilling his own game. So if you see his Regal parked in a remote spot in the campground and hear some mysterious pops early in the morning, walk over around brunch time for some tree-rat, possum or roasted armadillo. He has the secret sauce for flavoring...."a country boy knows how to survive..."

Yeah Dave, this darned board has warped me. I would have been perfectly happy with a nice Vectra or Vacationer until you bunch of misfits got me looking close-up at how the coaches were built. Still hoping for another Barth, but an SoB could lurk somewhere out there in my budget........... :-)

Thanks for the welcome, Dave.
I've been lurking here for awhile, learning.
This is a great site in support of a well made MH brand name.
I expect Ron will be scouting out that perfect Barth diesel pusher for him over the next few months. His Regal was perfect for my current need.........not planning on traveling far, but in comfortable style.
Don

Don, shen you genset gets fixed, please share the info with us on the tech page. I also have a Kohler 7KW, and am blissfully ignorant of its workings, as it has been almost trouble-free.

Just wanted to say congratulations on your new purchase. Unless I am wrong, you and I are the only two Barth owners in Mississippi. Although I haven't had much of a chance to use mine in the year I have had it, I continue to be excited about the future prospects of making many trips. From what I have read, you have gotten a fantastic Barth. Hope to meet you one day down the road.

I refuse to believe that bill is not knowledgable of every nut, bolt, screw, ring-end gap, compression ratio, flow rate, nominal exhaust gas temp and torque value of each threaded fastener on his gen set!

Psssttt, bill, don't tell don, but I adjusted the mixture screws myself. Took a pretty good sized pry bar and a 3# ballpeen hammer but I had her tuned up in less than an hour! Still looking for a couple of those pesky little nuts that hold the air cleaner on though. :-)

No, Ron, I tend to learn things the hard way, through experience. The way I get experience is having my stuff fail.

Aside from Red Line fuel system cleaner and a little governor adjustment, the clanky old Kohler just keeps going.
