I read on another forum where Dometic asorption refrigerators have caused fires in RV's. Believe the culprits were made somewhere around 1997 and later, but was wondering if earlier models may have a problem too. Has anyone had an experience or know someone who has had one with their dometic?

If the flame is adjusted properly, residue buildup in the flue will be minor. The vast majority of fires is caused by ignition of hydrogen leaking from the coils.

There will be no residue formed when the reefer is on electric power.

Both Dometic and Norcold units have had fires. Most contemporary reefers have a cutoff ("limit") switch in the flue to turn of the unit if the heat gets too high.
