I have been using two 6 volt TROJANS. Unfortunately they were out of my control for several months on two occasions and our Florida heat didn't help the situation. My TROJANS are a little over two years old. Today I had to charge them and they checked ok, on the low side of good. The owner of the shop showed me his four vehicles all had OPTIMA batteries installed under the hoods. His claim is the OPTIMA is far superior to the TROJAN for not much more money. (he is not a dealer) I checked on line and I can order them (delivered) for $155.00 each. Has any one had any experience or opinion with/on the OPTIMA battery line?........................ Carl, believe it or not, we have two 12 volt yellow tops and one red top and they all have lasted since 1997. The amp hours have gone down somewhat, but they still work fine. We keep them charged with a charge wizzard but they are just fine. Jim

My jeeps 12 volt red top lasted just over the 3 year warranty. This jeeps sets for months at a time with no use. I'm on my second red top now. 1978 Barth 17' Cabin Fever 1997 Barth 23' 4 door Command Center

The only RV criticism I've read of Optima's is that they don't have much deep cycle capacity which results in lower amp hours. This may only be important if you plan to boondock... if they will be plugged in the majority of the time, you'd probably be okay. Otherwise, I see more recommendations for Trojan 6v golf cart batteries over everything else for RV "house" usage.
