I've been looking for trailers to rent to tow a 24" Class A 159" wheelbase. Haven't found many 24' for rent, but lots of 20's. Would it be ok to tow on a 20" trailer with dual 7k axels? We'll be pulling it with a 2024 Ram diesel 3500.
Thanks.

I can't translate the question but I use a 2011 Ram 5.7 1500 to tow our 25 old style 2 axle trailer with no problem.

If the coach is drivable then go to a truck stop and weigh it. My two concerns are height, beware if it will be taller than 13’6” and secondly the capacity of the tires on the trailer. I have no idea what a coach that size would weigh The rule of thumb would be 14,000 on the axles and 1,400 on the tongue giving your total capacity of 15,400 lbs.

The truck will be fine, put the transmission in tow/haul mode.

Good luck

Sorry, The RV is 24', and the trailer is 20". I was wondering if it's an issue with it hanging further that the trailer. The wheelbase will fit on the trailer no problem.

I'll get it weighed. I was planning on jumping up top with a measuring tape to check. I may have to get off the freeway, and back on, if it's too tall.

The 1978-79 brochure posted in the forums lists height at 108", so It's actually shorter than I would have guessed.

I might unbolt the roof AC if it's close as well.

Thank you for your input.

It will depend on where the weight is on the coach. You will have to move it to the right place on the trailer to get the correct tongue weight for the tow vehicle.

If it isn't hanging out too much on either end you should be ok. Considering the front end has engine, trans, etc it should be fairly heavy.

Be sure to check the coach weight. Barths were built solid and tend to be pretty heavy. 7K axles may be light. Be sure to check trailer carefully. Tires (age, condition, inflation) wheel bearings, springs and shackles.

Good luck with your project. Keep us posted!

Well, I made it back, 4000 miles round trip, including picking up and dropping off the trailer.

Didn't get terrible mileage on the way home either.

I was going to edit the EBB code to resize the image, but I don't have permission. If an admin can do it, it would probably help others view it better. Thanks.

What a great adventure, 14mpg is a bunch better than you are going to see in the Barth. Your Barth is very similar to my 71. Enjoy!!! Was the trip 400 or 4000 miles???

Thanks.4000

West coast of Michigan to Detroit to grab the trailer, Utah and back, then dropped the trailer off, and back.

It was an adventure, but believe me I second guessed my decision a few times on the way back

Mainly make sure everything is working first, then update things, trying to keep the original look or something that could have been original for that time period.

When I have access to a shop, I want to put the drive train from the truck into the Barth.
