Hi I'm new and new to the "Barth world" I've looked around I haven't really seen anything for a '92 Barth, course it's late and I'm tired. Smiler Anyways, I'm a potentially new owner of this vehicle. The owner doesn't know much about it, he purchased it from a state auction. It was owned by the Texas Department of Safety and it was a mobile command center. Very low miles, nice shape. We couldn't get the generator to run though he said it was running as someone he knew spent the night in it one night and it ran the a/c blew cold. It kept making a clicking noise and assumed the battery was dead, or bad.
I am looking for something to convert to a mobile grooming salon and I saw this and loved it, course once I actually saw it, it was much bigger than I had anticipated. It will mainly see only city miles very little highway miles and rarely over 50 mph. It doesn't smoke, engine sounds good and strong. It has one issue, the park is inoperable, no park! Not sure why this is the issue yet, not sure if it is internal in the transmission or if there is an issue with the linkage ( ideas?) Parking break works but it has a trick to it.
Anyone have any information on this particular type of Barth? No owners manuals, nothing on the generator or anything. If anyone has any manuals I would gladly pay for a copy of it and any other printed material.
I was also wondering if anyone knew about the water tanks, size etc? Was difficult to tell and wondering if there is a way to replace them and put in larger tank if needed. I need at least a 75 gallon fresh tank.
It drove well, a little intimidating at first since that was my first time to drive something that large. My other concern is navigating the monster around neighborhoods. Comments? Suggestions? greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Beth

Navigating that thing a problem??

Heck, that thing is a subcompact!

Seriously, the best thing is to just drive it and get some wheel time.

Pretty soon you will have no problems.

Fresh water tank upgrade? sure it can be done. You might be better served in adding two 40 gallon tanks from a point of safety and ease of installation.

Your trans problem sounds like a broken detent pin.

What tranny do you have in that unit?

Better an ugly Barth, than
a pretty Winnebago.

I meant to get back to you when you posted this but it got put on the back burner until now. I,m with Windsor on the size issue. If you drew a line around it and put a full size Cadi in it you,d be surprized how small of a footprint that thing has. You just have to remember that you're taller and have a higher center of gravity so don't take corners like you're running from the "Cops". It looks real nice and sounds like the perfect vehicle for what you need. Any money invested after the sale would be an investment, and you'd still be ahead of going out and buying a new step-van, which you'd have to set up anyway. Hope you got this one or are getting it, and sorry for taking so long with a response.
