We're getting ready to pick up the Breakaway and am trying to put together a list of spare parts we should always have in the Barth. There are some things specific to 5.9 Breakaway, I'm sure. Right now my list is:
water pump
fuel filters
serpentine belt
some 12 gauge wire
various crimpers, electric tape
metric/american 3/8" socket set
multimeter
a couple of adjustable wrenches
screw drivers
metric/american spanners

Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Jim

This is what Kay says having gone with me from CA to MI to FL

1. A creeper to roll under the thing.

2. If it has a fix genset, know where that breaker is.

3. Know where the airconditioner breakers are as in AC electricty. AC systems that are old and newly turned on generater lot of head pressure if cycled too fast.

4. A good map and step stepfor outside for the wife.

5. Toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

6. I would have a Good Sam roadside myself

Ask your wife to not let you do what I did

1. Lost all the keys except the ignition

2. LEft fuel cap getting jacked up dealing with trucker fuel stop in the heat.

3. Got me a Flying J card but did not activate it so same deal again. Now activated

4. I did get new wiper blades

5. Have fun.

6. If you have an exaust brake, check that carefully up front.

7. Most of all, check the airpressure in your tires.

I would add a good working flashlight.

Also, is the radio working? I drove ours halfway home without a working radio/stereo. A layover at a buddy's house resulted in a trip to an electronics store for a new Pioneer head unit. Tunes!

Tom, Bill's number is implanted in a chip in my brain.(He probably wishes it wasn't ) What would we do without this guy? Well, I forget Rusty, and Bill, and Gary, and Ed and Nick and, and, and.
BTW, will include in my tool kit a constant duty solenoid, probably the Cole Hersee 24115 12V Continuous Duty SPST. Since I don't know what the one in the Breakaway looks like yet, will this work for a 91 Breakaway, 28', 5.3 Cummins, 4-speed Allison?

If you have a diesel, make the socket set 1/2" drive and a set of open end wrenches that matches every bolt and nut you may have to deal with. A long thick wall pipe to use as a breaker bar is also helpful.

Since you are getting 1/2" sockets, get one long handled and a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. If you have to change the belt you will need one.
