What years did Barth make 38ft diesel pusher motorhomes? Do they all have the same chassis? Has anyone regretted buying a 38 ft. I'm new to motorhomes. I know they need a lot of work and upkeep. I was looking at used Fleetwood and Winnebago's that where in really bad shape and stumbled across a 38ft diesel pusher. The motor home has been in storage for 10 years. The owner is 90 year old mechanic. Its more money than I wanted to spend, but after finding this site I have fallen in love with the quality.

Most 38 ft diesel pusher Barth coaches were Regency models. Later ones were Monarch models.

Up to late 86 the Regencies were all 35 ft on MCC chassis with 8.2 Detroit engines.

From late 86 to 94, Regencies were made from 34 to 40 ft long, mostly on a Gillig chassis with Cat 3208 V8 engines. A few had a Spartan chassis and 8.3 Cummins engines.

After around 89 the Regencies were wider bodies, 102 inches vs 96 previously.

When Barth became Barth RSV (95-98) They produced a few Regencies and several 34-40 ft Monarch models. These are wide bodies, Spartan chassis with 8.3 Cummins, and molded front ends.

The early Regencies with the MCC/8.2 have problems with service and parts.

Later Regencies and Monarchs are good coaches. For both the Gillig and the Spartan chassis, parts are available and mechanics know them well. Same goes for the Cat and Cummins engines.

As with any 25+ year old vehicle, much depends on regularity of use and how well/often the coach was maintained. Every one is different by now. Be sure to inspect thoroughly.

See if you can find the Data Tag. It is often located on the wall left and above the driver seat.

The Data Tag has the Vin number the Barth build number and tire and weight info. From that we can tell much more.

Looks ok in the photo. Not a wide body model (they had an extra strip of glass in the middle of the windshield.)

Good luck
