My Dad bought a barth years ago and he loved it. Now he's 84 and thinking about buying a small rv. Does Barth make any smaller rvs? Do you still manufacture any RV's? Do you have any literature you could send us? Thanks, April Lougheed

Hello April! This forum is for Barth owners... BARTH has been out of business for a few years. Dave Bowers runs this site as a "clearinghouse" of sorts for all things Barth... for us Barth fanatics. Good used Barths can be found on the "For Sale" forum. Welcome and Good Luck! Duteman

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you had to own one to belong to this forum. As long as you're interested in Barth's, you're welcome here.

You don't have to be a Barth owner to participate here, but all of our children are handsome and intelligent. So if that fits you are welcome. Barth went out of biz in 1998 but as Dute-man says you can still get a great small, unbelievable well built coach reasonably under the Barth's for Sale topic. ------------------

Thanks for your help. Barth's are great. Are there any that are small? Like the size of the Mini-Winni? Winnebago View http://www.winnebagoind.com/html/products/recVehicles/winnebago/view.html Appreciate your time.

I want my next RV to be my "keeper", and if I were getting a Class C, I'd seriously consider the Born Free line. Pricey, but very well-built and appointed. http://www.bornfreemotorcoach.com/introduction.cfm

I don't know, Rusty... not a single Diesel in their line. Have you seen the converted Dodge (Mercedes) Sprinters? I forget the brand, but saw one at a local RV store, Butt-ugly outside, but nice in. Sort of reminded me of the old LeSharo. Small but an innovative use of space. Too bad that LeSharo was on a Renault chassis! Yikes!

April, I should have looked at that Winnebago View before making my last post. That's NOT what I'd seen before but it looks really good. The chassis would be wonderful, the only problem I'd have is that Winnebago house-build quality is way, waaaay below Barth standards. "Stick-and-Staple" construction. Perhaps they are better now, but the one I had was terrible. Leaks, rattles, cabinet construction... a nightmare. My ideal small unit, believe it or not, would be to get an old Barth Class C, completely re-do the interior, put on a new paint job, and drop a Diesel engine in it. But I like big projects! The view is interesting but with a 10K lb chassis and a 154 hp diesel engine with only 243lbs of torque. And, a price tag of $80K give me my Regal anyday. • 2.7L, 5-cylinder, turbo-diesel • 154 hp @ 3,800 RPM • Torque- 243 lbs.-ft. @ 1,600-2,400 RPM ------------------

The Ford 6.0L turbodiesel is an option on the Born Frees. Airstream makes one of the M/Hs on the Freightliner/MB chassis. I agree, efficient use of space, just not much space.
