Houston we also have a problem.
Our Barth has been in intensive care for the past 2 weeks. She will not be able to make the trip to Milford this year. The mechanic just told us that he might not have her ready today. We had engine problems coming home from Myrtle Beach and I am not sure what they are fixing.
We are new to Barth and also new to the RV lifestyle. Our campsite is/was #437 Someone please let us know if we still need to pay for our spot. We were so hoping to drive her to the GTG this year.
We a still going to drive up tomorrow and stay at the Best Western and hopefully be able to talk with many of the Barth folks and see all the wonderful coaches.

Hose barbs and core are OK but the radiator is leaking from the end cap seam. Apparently poor workmanship when it was re-cored 2 years ago. I don't know why it chose now to let go, it was re-cored 20,000 miles ago and it was fine on the return trip from Florida in mid April. It has been cold but no way it froze since then... If it hadn't been so cold I would have discovered it sooner doing the work I had planned.

It is a bit of a job getting it in and out. I am trying to locate another radiator (or someone else to repair this one, again.) I don't think I can get either in time, though.

We will drive to Milford one way or the other. If I can't get Barth rolling we'll take the car and sleep under somebody's Barth!

Last time I took it out the front. I unbolted the surrounding frame, tipped it forward, removed frame top, rotated/tipped the radiator out the front. A PITA, actually. I don't think I can git er done in time for the weekend.

It is looking like it will now be combined with my engine swap project, already lined up for later in June.

Really, I can't complain. I've run 20,000 miles in the last 2 years and made it to where I was going with minor pit stops. It was getting almost turnkey lately.

This does make a turning point... now that I know I will be running the RV life for a while, I will get Barth done right.

New engine, new radiator(!), windshields, rear axle overhaul, new drive tires, wheel well repairs and paint are in the near future.

It looks like we'll be driving the car there and arrive about noon Friday. Save a lot of gas money... head bang

My repairs are coming long nicely - external tranny cooler is in and the new crankshaft pulley is here, awaiting bolts. The tranny cooler leak turned out to be fortuitous, as the shop owner discovered the belt problem in about 30 seconds...which, otherwise, I'd still have that issue.

Everything got done, and left the shop at 4:00 PM. Back to the shop at 5:00 PM. I got .4 mile before it threw the belt. Whatever the cause, it's related to running through standing water. The owner and his son suspect the tensioner, which was new May '13. Mad Violence

The alternator is ruled out because the tach and voltmeter have been steady. The A/C compressor was disengaged. We'll examine the belt tomorrow, but cursory exam showed no evidence of a lockup. That leaves the tensioner and P/S pump, but with no evidence of a lockup and no reason for water to affect it, it's a distant candidate.

Looks like Friday before I can make it...at least the shop owners are very friendly and accommodating - hooked up to their power and wi-fi.

Schedule is very flexible. Friday afternoon we have a wine and cheese event planned. Fried turkey sandwiches and munchies.

Sat about noon we will get underway with the picnic. Hamburgs, dogs and pig roast! Bring a side dish if you can.

Around 3PM we will have ice cream and a Barth auction. Bring items to donate if you want to.
See you soon.
