Built in 1978 and listed as a 1979, this Barth has been well cared for over the years. It has a Chevrolet drive train with a 454 engine and a Turbo 400 transmission. The body and interior are in excellent shape and it has some extra goodies the former owner, a race car mechanic added. It has Headman headers, front and rear sway bars and a receiver type trailer hitch that holds the mount for the spare tire. There are no dents in the body and all the glass is in good shape. It has six Wildcat Radial LT 235/85 R16 near new tires. It has been used for local camping only. It had a little over 90,000 miles when I purchased it in October, 09 and has 93,200 miles on it now.

The interior is in excellent shape with a drop down twin bed above the cab and a double bed in the in the rear. The bath has a toilet and shower in excellent condition. The sitting/dining area has an “L” shaped bench with a matching bench near the door. Five people can sit at the table and there are 5 seat belts. The cabinetry is in excellent condition with only slight wear. There is some rust at the bottom of the Dometic refrigerator/freezer door. There is a large closet which has a wooden drawer cabinet inside and a narrow pull out pantry next to the stove/oven. There is also storage under the bench seating and other cabinets with overall good storage.

There are some negatives….I had a problem with the brakes and had to replace the master cylinder on a trip up the coast. While the Barth was being towed, the tow truck hit something in the road and put a crack in the gray water tank. I purchased a plastic weld kit to repair the crack but I am not handy enough to make the repair. Everything works fine with hookups.
When I purchased the Barth almost 3 ½ years ago, everything worked perfectly except for some of the gauges on the dash did not work and there is a whine in the speedometer cable at 60 MPH. I called in a mobile motor home “Specialist” to check it out since there were problems holding a charge when the electrical was not hooked up. I got it stuck to me for almost 2k with a new water heater I probably did not need, new batteries and the same problems after he left.
I have been a paper pusher my whole life and not mechanically handy. Buying a 30+ year old motor home was probably not a good idea, but it has so much character I had to have it. I am widowed now and have a VW Westfalia that works for me, so the Barth must go and hopefully quickly, because I am moving and need it gone. It needs a new owner who enjoys tinkering with this old beauty and knows what they are doing.

I paid 10k and understand I will take a loss. Email me for interior pics and contact me for questions. I will work up a floor plan. I am asking $5,500 and will consider all reasonable offers. Contact John Henderson at 530-391-8316 or jrhendy39@yahoo.com

This coach has some mold problems and a water leak when a new water heater was installed. The installer rerouted the water hose to the toe heater and when the motor runs, there is a leak onto the flooring under the fridge.

It will still be for sale at a reduced price after I can guesstimate the damage and/or repair costs and how much to offer it for.
