The trans is a MT647 4-speed with lock-up converter.The shift mechanism is the Stone Bennett air shifter and that toggle is the shift switch and display for the selected gear.
But it doesn't have to be manually shifted,just select D and the trans will do the work.

Nice Coach The cabinetry and the layout remind me of our 88 Bluebird. We had the 300 HP 3208 but with a 5 speed ZF. Although the 3208 is not one of Cat's finest if looked after they go a long way. Lots of torque. I suspect that Barth or Gillig had that engine for awhile as Cat stopped making that model in 89. They do get good mileage. Mine had a fancy Horton fan but was a front engine. Good luck with your sale! I am tempted

I am still gawking!! What is the tire dates? The PO replaced them but if they were a year old at that time new ones would be needed in a few years? Are they Michelins. Are the steps common electric or did Barth use something of their own mfr.? Was the inverter factory? Are there quite a few outlets that run on the inverter? Is it a full sine wave? I did not notice but are there 2 AC's? Heat strips? How is the water heated? Aqua Hot? Is the closet plumbed for the W/D. Is it vented? Is it a basement chassis with a pass thru? Are there any links to an original brochure for this model? Sorry for all the questions but I am becoming very interested. Do you have more pictures? Thanks

The sellers first post I have quoted below will answer a few of your questions. Keep in mind there were only about 175 Regencies ever made. Gillig chassis was a 5k option. The is one of the best coaches ever built by Barth.

I will check on the tire dates. Not Michelins, Imports.
Steps are 2 year old Kwikee brand.
The inverter is factory,It powers all 120VAC outlets and devices except the 2 AC units.Not sure if true sine wave.
AC units (2) have the heat strips.
Hot water is not Aqua Hot, will check on the brand.I believe Attwood but I may be thinking the LP heaters.It does have the engine heat exchanger and LP gas.
No pass through.
Closet is fully plumbed for washer/drier combo.Not vented.

At the moment the Coach is on hold for a couple from CA. who will be coming out to have a look.

Hi Steve: You did not answer all my questions. Doe sit have an engine brake or exhaust brake. When we had our BB it used a transmission hydraulic brake. Some earlier models used an electric driveshaft brake. I was old that 3208's do not normally have either an engine brake or exhaust brake. Something to do with the design??? I noticed you have a newer 34 ft. as well. Wow 2 barths! Are you upgrading to a Cummins?

It does not have an auxiliary brake system.
I don't think I would consider the Cummins an upgrade.
Personal preference maybe.

Sorry I am sorry I would rather have an 11.4 liter pussy CAT than a 8.2 liter Cumapart. Sorry

Steve your Barth with the Gillig probably has mountain brakes in the rear. The total with of two sets of shoes on each side of my rig is 11 inches wide. Brakes are way cheaper than transmissions and motors.

Fellows: One has to be careful when making blanket statements. There are Cat engines that are much better than an equivalent Cummins. There are also Cummins engines that are better than the equivalent Cat. The 3208 is a legacy cat product . No loner supported by Cat. It worked well in marine applications where they could turn up the power and no overheating. Not a great RV engine. Known fuel problems ( white smoke) and problematic oil coolers. Not a million mile engine. The C7 and it's pervious version were also good engines. The bigger Cats in later years were junk Especially the few that were made with DPF's. C15 I think is the model. Cummins has a good engine in the 5.9 but the ISX is horrible. It is hard to make direct comparison as Cat left the OTR manufacturing about 8 years ago. Most modern MH's are Cummins. Steve: So why are you selling the older unit? Problems?

CAT 3208 lives on. My local Gillig repair shop tells me the 3208 is on vacation when pushing a 30,000 rig. It was designed for heavier rigs.
Lets get back to the topic at hand. Steve has one of a few Regencies left. Chances of finding a nicer Barth are slim to none. Mine is not for sale either although it is NOT as nice as Steve78's. Mine sure does get some attention.

I've got the twin to steves Barth here in Northern California
I actually tried to buy steves rig from the previous owners but could not come to terms. I also have the Cat 3208 TA. It has no problem negotiating the steep mountain grades and holds really nice on the big downhill grades. The 3208 with the Allison serves these units quite well!

Not a single problem with the Cat.As far as smoke only on start-ups on cold mornings that lasts about a minute.
Totally normal for a non-EPA diesel.
Show me a diesel that doesn't give some trouble, unless it stays parked.
3208 not a good engine? I would have to disagree. With proper care they will and do outlast the coach itself.
Also Cat here in the US are supported and will be for quite some time.There are millions of them.
The 2 stroke Detroit Diesel still has strong support and that's a WWII engine.
