I have always thought this was the best 28 ft Barth floor plan ever.

If Ed's had leveling jacks, I would have seriously considered selling our Regal and buying his. We have found that for us, leveling jacks are a must. That is a very nice floor plan. Wonder if they ever made one with the sink and stove on the street side and the frig on the curb side next to the entry door? Now that would have been nice.

My Regency is that way. And it is very nice, of course the door is up front, not in the middle.

This particular 28 footer has the 19.5 wheels, which means a much sturdier chassis. Better handling, etc, etc. I have owned both, and there is a TON of difference. I'm on my third P30 in 30 years, and will never go back to the light chassis. Most or all of the people who complain of the P30 faults have the light chassis. A properly set up heavy chassis P30 is a completely different animal.

Also the most efficient layout I have seen in a 28 footer. Most have rear baths and walk-through bedrooms, neither of which suits us.

Bill, my '85 has 19.5" wheels as well. The vin # also has a 'P37' in it. So, does that mean that I have a 'heavy duty chassis'? And what would the identifying numbers be for the 'light duty chassis'?

I have given making any sense out of the P30, P32 and P37 thing.

The way I tell the heavier chassis is by counting the wheel studs, counting the rear spring leaves, and checking the diameter of the rear spring shackles. The heavier chassis also has (larger) disk brakes all round.

There might be a difference in VINs and GVW on the tag, and some other stuff, but this is what I remember (before coffee) from owning and shopping for three Pee-thirty-somethings.

I never did actually park then side by side and slide around on a creeper to compare, but I suspect the heavier one has a thicker frame and more bracing. Heck, I lived on such a hill that I couldn't even use a creeper without tying my ankle to a life line.

When we first test-drove a heavy Pee, Susan could feel the difference sitting in the dinette. The handling and brakes really sold me on the heavier chassis. Brakes are very very important to CA and AZ RVers.

Ours has 5 wheel studs, disc brakes all around, and including an extra leaf added by the PO, 11 leafs. Don't know what a 'shackle' is but if you mean that big 'u-bolt' looking thing, it's about the size of my thumb in diameter.

I would expect 5 on each front and ten on each rear wheel pair. On a 7 1/4 inch bolt circle.

Yeah, I meant U bolt. Frowner

Mine are 3/4" and there are 10 OEM spring leaves. I seem to recall that the lighter chassis had fewer leaves and 5/8 U bolts.
