Would appreciate recommendations on a trip we're taking soon. ATL to Sioux City Iowa; 2 day drive, some point in between (maybe near ST Louis, or even Columbia Mo? And then a couple days in KC. Anyone know a good place in/near Sioux city and KC? Are they closed for winter by now? No need for sightseeing etc; just a quiet place to plug in and sleep, no cable or wifi needed, just camping while helping some folks near there. tia, stringmann

If you are a vet, being a member of the Legion or VFW can often allow you to use their parking lot. Some have plug ins.

There is a casino in Sioux City, right by the bridge. Council Bluffs has several. Onawa has at least one. Casinos often have RV parking and good food.

There are few along I-24 that are open year-round.

One is Duck Creek RV Park, I-24 Exit 11, north on SR 1954. I stay there occasionally.

There's a small one, nothing very elaborate, that I stay at in Mt. Vernon, IL: Quality Times, Inc. Off SR 15, 1/2 mile west of I-57/64 Exit 95.

There is nothing on I-64 west of Mt. Vernon. BTW, to get to the exit for I-70 on the St. Louis side of the river, get into the right lane as soon as possible, despite what the signs say. It's a small, sharp, one-lane exit. I-64/US 40 also gets to I-70 - it's easier to stay on I-64, but there's been a lot of construction.

There is a year-round park in Jonesburg (Jonesburg Gardens - Exit 183) and three year-round parks in Danville (Exit 170).

If you're going to be in KC before 11/30, Worlds of Fun is the most convenient to downtown.

I've not stayed in any but the first two.
