When do those of you that go to AZ for the winter go there? Where do you stay and other recommendations?

We would like to do an exploritory trip next month and am looking for suggestions, we will not be staying long just swinging thru.

Y'all MUST swing by Quartzsite. Y'all will love it or hate it; either way, don't miss it. (And get out of "town" and check out the dry-campers in the Desert).

When RVers go is when they think it's too cold where they are, when other demands permit, when the spirit moves them, or any combination of these or other factors. The peak season for crowds is January & February.

Where they go depends on what they like. Those who love big cities & their suburbs head for the Phoenix area. There are a gazillion snowbird parks of varying cost & quality around there. Tucson is a slightly smaller version of the same.

Some head for the Yuma area which is, on balance, a little more working class than the bigger cities. Some like the small towns along the Colorado River, while others favor touristy historic environs like Bisbee & Tombstone. Still others do whatever they can to get away from it all in the boondocks, & some head for the Quartzsite area which, in winter, must be experienced to be believed. There are several BLM Long-Term camping areas around Quartzsite & the Colorado River. There's something in the state for every pocketbook & preference.

I'd suggest you get a map, draw out a route covering the major areas you want to see, get a campground guide to give you an idea of what's available in public & private facilities along your route, & set sail to follow your own muse. It wouldn't hurt to do a little internet research on the various areas either, & there's a wealth of information available (probably too much) from Chambers of Commrce, too.

All your experiences won't be perfect, but they'll be your own, & you ain't gonna know if you'll like it until you try it.
