As usual, Suzy and I will be in Talledega for the weekend of Oct. 5-7. If anyone else is going I'd like to meet them. We take our bikes so we can get around pretty well, but we need to know where you are to find you. It's a really big place! Drop a note so we can exchange contact info in advance, and hope to see some of you there.

I'll be the other direction off I-20 - at the Peach State Star Gaze, about as far east of Atlanta as you'll be west. I hope you have a good time there!

The skies are almost always clear for us on this weekend, and it looks like a last quarter moon,[new moon on the 11th], so you should have some great gazin'. Have fun!

Definately next year, been going to the fall race since94, same seats, same campsites. We're outside turn 2. Sounds like you're infield.

As a newcomer to the Barth family, I have been reading a lot of the old post and can't help but notice how many members are NASCAR fans. We live just outside Augusta, GA and within 300 miles of Atlanta, Bristol, Charlotte, Darlington, Dayton Beach, Rockingham, and Talladega. As an oldtime NASCAR fan, think how great we had it when there was two races a year at all these tracks, before all the new tracks were added. I spent a lot of hours pulling for Bill Elliott and watching the Earnhardt and Elliott battles. I'm having a hard time deciding on which of the young drivers to pull for, I like Junior, but maybe it's just the Earnhardt thing.

The October race is 3rd through 5th this year. We already have our renewal notice and have until Feb 8 to renew. So they'll sit on our 850 bucks for 8 months before we even get there! Don't suppose they'll put it in an interest bearing account, do you? Wink

If you wind up with backstretch tix you could get there early and walk to our campsite for breakfast and a little relaxing before the race. It's about a 5 minute walk from the back parking lot.
