The "Great Adventure" is finally underway. We left the Elkhart County Fairgrounds Monday, 6/18 and headed west. Spent the first night in Effingham, IL at Camp Lakewood RV Park.

Today we drove over to Branson, MO where we will spent a couple of days. When we leave here, we plan on visiting the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. After that, who knows!!!. Keep traveling west along "Old Route 66" til the ocean gets in the way and we have to turn north.

if it would not be the middle of summer and temps that fry your brain I would recommend a stop in Laughlin NV or across the river at the county park in Bullhead City. More a winter destination, but fun. You can rent jetskis or ride the watertaxi to the casinos. Or just sit there and put your feet in the water (Colorado River). Be aware of the 12 mile 6% grade coming in or out. Have fun! And visit "Radiator Springs" Wink

Nick, the Presley Family started the whole Branson thing. The story goes that there is a Fantastic Cavern in Springfield Mo down the road that is really big. We took the tram tour. There is one large room, where the acoustics and temps were just perfect for singing so Buck Owens, the Presleys and I think Bobby Baer started having concerts there and filled the seats. The owner had built a stage and brought in lights and power. Of course before that during the Prohibition era it was a Speakeasy, etc

Stayed in Branson for four days. Took in a few of the shows. Left this morning for Oklahoma City. Traveled some of Historic 66 today. Will visit Cowboy Hall of Fame tomorrow.

Donna made a new friend in Branson, so I guess there will be 5 of us for the rest of the trip.

Arrived in Oklahoma City Sunday and visited the Cowboy Hall of Fame

This is probably one of my favorite statues in the world. Donna and I have a bronze of it in our home.

"The End of the Trail"

Sunday afternoon we drove to and stayed overnight in Elk City, Oklahoma.

Monday morning we visited the National Route 66 Museum.

Monday afternoon we drove to Santa Rosa, NM. Stayed overnight and visited the "Blue Hole"

To give you an idea of clarity; That square you see in the middle of the picture supported by the buoys is 30 feet deep.

We arrived in Albuquerque, NM Tuesday and are planning on 3 or 4 days here. Super nice RV park

Thought it was about time to get 3000 miles so far of road grime off the Barths

And we stop and take pictures at every hokey thing along the road.

A big soda bottle

A Christmas Tree made out of horseshoes

More to follow. Tooling Along

Left Albuquerque and drove over to Flagstaff, AZ. Stayed at the Flagstaff KOA for a couple of days and visited Sedona. Beautiful little city with a lot to see.

Cliff dwellings:

And Desert scenery:

Drove over to Las Vegas, NV on July 1st and will stay here for 4 days.

Past more Desert scenery along the way.

A couple of Barths somewhere on the road.

We are staying at the Las Vegas Motorhome Resort here. Super, super nice.

More to follow Tooling Along

I am enjoying the trip even though it is by proxy. The pictures are extraordinary and so are the four of you. Will be looking forward to the next "installment".
