We will post details later, but we just returned from a 5000 plus mile road trip without a hitch. Stayed in some terrific and not so terrific places and we'll let you know about those as well as other sites to see along the way. Route was OK to Telluride, CO, then to Chicago, then to NC (Outer Banks) via Ohio and then Atlanta (Stone Mountain) and back to OK via Memphis and Hot Springs, AR. Quite a trip and well worth every penny. Diesel fuel costs differences significant. More later.....stay tuned. ------------------

Carl: The Outer Banks were great! We stayed at a campground in Waves, south of the Rt 64 bridge toward Hatteras. Ocean Waves Campground, cement pads, good hookups, laundry etc. It's only a short walk through the campground to the ocean. We did not get over to Ocracoke because of long ferry lines but we definitely preferred the southern half to the over popluated northern parts. Great seafood everywhere, both fresh that you can cook or in some small restaurants. Your weather should be much better than ours. It was hot and humid when we were there and September and October are really much to be preferred. Good luck! We also stayed in another campground next to Kitty Hawk (Collington) not the greatest but OK if you want to be up nearer to the Wright Brothers facilities. Distances are deceivingly great on the outer banks. Look at the map for mileage posts.
