http://spokane.craigslist.org/rvs/4464957713.html 1981 MCC --interiors by Barth 35 foot diesel pusher motorhome. Unique retro style motor home built on the storied FMC motorhome chassis (FMC was a 1970s high-end luxury motorhome owned & used by celebrities like Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones and Charles Kuralt (CBS "On the Road with Charles KUralt"). In the early 1980s MCC succeeded the FMC motorhome line, and in partnership with Barth, >>>>>>>>>>>{THIS IS WRONG: When FMC stopped production to concentrate on military equipment in 1976 some of the guys formed MCC and conceived and built the MCC---there were 38 original coaches with Barth only doing the interiors....after MCC went bankrupt Barth formed the Regency Corp and built the last seven MCC coaches and a additional 92 coaches, <<<<< ...increased the length from 29 ft to 35 ft and made a diesel pusher instead of the old gas pusher design used by the FMC. FMC was the motor home restored on the recent episode of Counting Cars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fitnhXuI2uQ Power train: Detroit diesel, Allison automatic transmission, about 50-60k miles on this coach (odometer broke in mid-40s per previous owner and hasn't see a lot of miles since). Chassis: 4-wheel disc brakes, air over hydraulic; 4-wheel independent suspension Body: solid fiberglass/composite body. Mechanical condition: good. Runs great, starts right up year-round. Front end completely rebuilt with 0 miles (new ball joints, tie rod ends, bell-crank and idler arm shafts & bushings, brake calipers and pads, rotors turned, DOT 5 Silicone brake fluid. 0 miles on this coach since all of this work was done. Almost new Sumitomo radials all the way around with less than 1,000 miles. Interior condition: needs some updating and cosmetic work, it is dated. However, it has great "bones" for a reno. . . nice contemporary/modern cherry wood cabinets, good layout, etc. Rear bedroom, mid bath, front kitchen & lounge. Very retro-looking inside. Exterior condition: Fair. Needs to have the gel coat buffed out. Has a few minor cracks in the fiberglass from age. Solid body with no significant damage. Alcoa aluminum wheels. Fronts have been polished and look great. Rears still need to be polished. We bought this coach because it was so unique, cool, and rare (this is serial number 12 of only 44 ever built before Barth dropped the fiberglass FMC style body in favor of an aluminum bus-style body). It was our plan to renovate and use the coach. Plans have changed. I got as far as the thorough front-end rebuild, but nothing more. I drove this from Portland to Monroe a little over a year ago and had no issues whatsoever, except for the front end being a bit loose. The Detroit Diesel and Allison trans ran flawlessly. This is a great motorhome for someone who wants to restore & update and have something very unique. We just don't have the time to put into it or to use it. _________________________ The 82 MCC {by Barth} is not an rv-- it is a Motor Coach!! | |||
