Jim and TereComputer Protection
Rusty, I bought a little Aspire One D255E laptop last September which had a bunch of stuff preloaded on it. From what I can tell, this is what I have for protection:
--Disk Space Cleanup Mgr for Windows
--Norton online Backup link
--Windows Firewall With Advanced Security
--AVG free 2012
--I.E. installed 7-20-11
This thing only has 1gb of memory. It is Windows 7 Starter. I use Google Chrome as my browser. ISP is a 'Clear' hot spot. What other things should I install? I use the computer for e-mail, some surfing, checking Barthmobile, Facebook, a little word processing. Don't store much of anything on it.

RustyI suggest
Ad-Aware Free and
Malwarebytes Antimalware.
System Mechanic has several useful utilities to help with clutter, and a memory defrag app which is useful for small RAM installs.

Jim and TereRusty, when I tried to install the 'Adaware Free', it said that it was not compatible with the AVG Free that I have and I would have to uninstall the AVG first. The other thing worked fine and my first scan showed no problems.
