RustyWinter storage for Dad's "Barth"
The best name I've ever seen on a yacht was about a '48 52' Matthews docked at Little Creek, VA: "$52,412"...

Steve VWIn the early spring of '64 (I was 10) Dad paid $1000 for the Matthews. It had not been in the water for at least 7 years and the hull was so dry you could see through many seams. The charred wood from the fire (around 1946) and the water line halfway up the door spoke of the sinking/beaching (1953), some hard times indeed.
Dad figured the diesel was worth most of that and mahogany is wood that lasts.
Launched again in 65 after 2 summers work on the hull, it was still a shell. We've been involved in the project for almost 50 yrs!
Like a Barth, the Matthews were built well and made to last. You just have to take care of them.
