Before the new school was built, the route to school was all on roadways. Three of us frequently rode on a sled behind a full-blooded wolf. The wolf was allowed in the classroom, and was big enough to keep all six of our feet warm. I guess not many schools in the Lower 48 allow pet wolves in th classroom... When I was younger,(now 73), it never slowed me down. In Pennsylvania, we would always carry a set of chains in the trunk, and a few cement blocks for extra weight. My dad's 54 Buick could go just about anywhere if properly equipped. Walking up and down hills to feed horses and mucking out stalls at age 73 is a little difficult. One of my favorite camp grounds is Gulf Beach Campground on Siesta Key, near Sarasota. A great bar/grill just across the street. Jim

I have to give you credit for that. I always have to remind myself when I am thinking of getting a horse again REMEMBER the frozen water supply in the winter... and every day no choice, gotta do it. 1999 Bluebird Custom 33' 8.3 Cummins diesel pusher Former owner 1989 Barth Regal 25'

We have three 100 gallon water troughs and I use a 5 pound sledge hammer to break the ice when necessary. Sometimes have to carry water around if the ground is frozen for fear of breaking the freeze proof faucets. Should have run underground electricity to each location for trough heaters. Maybe a project for next summer, but this kind of weather hardly ever happens in east Tennessee. Jim

While I believe that Jim can lay the sledgehammer and snow shovel safely aside, my condolences go out to the folks in PA and NY that will get hammered with another round of snow (only a foot or so) the next days Just enjoyed the last winterstorm in the Sierra Nevadas, Donner was closed for 3 days. 1999 Bluebird Custom 33' 8.3 Cummins diesel pusher Former owner 1989 Barth Regal 25'
