That's neat. I never got to fly one, but I worked on two, owned by Ed Wiener for air racing. I got to ride in the back seat area of the one we installed an L2 autopilot to adjust the servo clutches under actual flight conditions, as no one had ever done that installation before. STC, and all that. It was super nifty, and the Merlin is about my 3rd favorite engine sound. He went on to win the transcontinental air race with it.
