PG&E shut down power in our area Saturday night about 11:30PM. This was in anticipation of high winds that could cause wires to come together or trees to come down on power lines. Pretty severe actions. For the first six hours I was running our house and rental units off of the Breakaway propane generator. Handled it OK but we asked all we were powering for some care to keep power usage to a minimum. I have been restoring 2 Cummins Onan QD8000 generators to change out the Breakaway propane generator (one goes to Dana). These units were damaged units taken from RVs that were in accidents. I finished the work a couple of weeks ago and have been testing them and getting some hours logged. For this power outage after running off the Breakaway generator, I switched over to the QD8000 which is siting along side waiting for installation. The QD8000 has been running straight now for 20 hours without issue. It handles 4 units plus our house and has never been overloaded. Speed varies according to load and over all is very quiet! Fuel consumption has been averaging 3 hours per gallon. It looks like power outage will continue until late Wednesday or Thursday as another high wind situation is forecasted. Fires are all over this state and that doesn't help the situation. I am writing up the rebuild of the generators and will post when things have settled down. We got power back ar 6:22PM last night, was out for about 43 hours. I do expect more outage as the weather patterns have changed and high winds are forecasted again later this week. We are not too close to the fire area BUT are getting some smoke from the NAPA fires. It is really bad around the state. I think in gallons per hour so read your statement as 3 gallons per hour. I thinking something is wrong. So in re-reading I found that you think hours per gallon or .333 gallons per hour. Much better! '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance | |||
