Jim and Tere"Ask.com"
Somehow, this d*** thing has attached itself to my computer. Everytime I do a search, 'Ask' ends up doing the searching. I've tried everything. It does not show up as a program on my computer so I can't uninstall it. I've tried several uninstall programs but they say they can't even find the ask tool bar. I've uninstalled Java which is where the problem started but apparently this thing has in-bedded itself somewhere in my computer. Any help before I shoot my lap top?

RustyIt's not a standalone, it's a plugin for your browser. You'll have to got to tools or preferences and select another search engine.
It started in Java when you updated - the box has to be unchecked ni the download window.
