Comet 209P/LINEAR, newly-discovered in 2004, left a debris trail that should produce the Camelopardalids, a new meteor shower. The morning of Saturday, 5/24, 2-4AM would be the best time to observe, assuming the shower materializes. However, the show could start after 1AM for the earliest meteoroids. Camelopardalis, from where the shower would appear to originate is the "Giraffe", which will be low in the NNE at that hour. Yes, although the origin will be relatively low in the sky, meteor trails should be visible over a large part of the sky.
