Can I replace the 8.00 x 19.5" tires with a metric sized tire? eg 225/70R 19.5. Are there any dual spacing issues with this conversion. I have checked on a tire size conversion web site, and it looks like the loaded radius is still close to the same, just the width is different (metric size are wider) Thanks foir the help

Probably. It would depend on your wheel width. chances are the wheels are stamped. Scrub a dub dub.

Probably not, but measure for yourself, to be sure.

I considered it, but was unwilling to give up any ground clearance, whatsoever. But, your needs may vary. It depends on where you go, your wheelbase and overhang. And, the last time I bought, Bridgestone had quite a price difference.

Yes you can use 225R70 19.5 to replace 8R19.5. Expect to see 3-5% RPM higher then with the 8R as the load radius for the metric is smaller. Revolutions per mile with 8R is about 616 and 648 for the 225R. This information is from Michelin's data sheets. Other manufacturers have slightly different ratings of revolution per mile, the load radius difference is a little smaller then the rated diameter difference.

You should have 6" rims and that will allow the use of 225R as they need spacing of 8.9 and the 8R needs 8.8, that isn't much difference.

I am running 225R in front but left the 8R19.5 in the rear. In the future I will probably run 225 in the rear also. Still doing tire research but will have to decide soon.

I kind of figured I could get away with this. I have tracked down some Hercules tires that are avail. in the metric size at a reasonable cost ($185 CDN per) That size is avail. in a traction/block tread design for the drives, as well as a rib tread for the steers. How much ground clearance will I give up between the 8.00 and the 225's. I am having issues up here trying to track down traction treaded 8.00R19.5's. Any sugestions?

You will only give up about 1/2 inch, the unloaded diameter of the 8R19.5 is 33 +/- inches and the unloaded diameter of most 225R70 19.5 is 32 +/- inches.

Don't think you would notice much change.
