I have decided to replace the Attwood SpringLift #40 Cabinet Closers on my overhead cabinets.

I have the new Spring Lifts, but am unsure as to how to compress them in order to get them onto the original mounting brackets.

I've read a few internet posts regarding this subject, but before I end-up with one of these things impaled in my skull, I am wondering if anyone else has overcome this task(?)

Old, worn-out closers, that not only won't keep the cabinet door open, but also will not keep it tightly closed.

The only information I have found in the archives seems to go back several years and does not discuss an installation process...

Replaced several in my coach. Place the cylinder end on to the cabinet button and C-Clamp it in. This will keep it from flying away. Next Apply elbow grease to pushed down the blade on the new spring and place it over the button of the cabinet door, then install the c-clamp and you're done.

aaahhh...

Keeping that bugger from moving-about as you are trying to reduce the (new) spring tension...

I will give this a try tomorrow!
