Coach Batts fully charged but no power inside 77 Barth 21
My family and I have just aquired a beautiful old Barth but I am having some problems with the power inside the coach... no lights, anything. If I start the motorhome up and wait a few seconds, power will be supplied to the lights inside. The 2 batteries inside the door for the coach area are fully charged and tested with a voltmeter. Everything worked fine until I tried to start the generator... now nothing unless motor is running. Thanks for any help or suggestions about where to start looking for the problem.

I would have someone with a load tester run a test on the battries. You also can use a hydrometer to check the readings. There can be a dead cell. Something to think about. Dennis

On my 33' Breakaway there is a switch located near the front door that operates a solinoid that shuts off the house batteries.
I would check this out as I beleive this is where your problem lies. When you run the engine the altenator is feeding the house circuits.

Sounds like it could be a circuit breaker on your converter.

It might also be wise to clean and tighten all ground cable terminals, incuding the ground to the buzz fuse panel next to the breaker box. While most of the ground cables are copper, the one at the fuse panel (on my '84) is aluminum, which is especially prone to corrosion and/or loose lug screw at ground terminal, found behind the large master fuse.
