This is an email I received from Betty Fridley, a long time Barth Ranger:

To Barthers who have a P 30 or 31 Chevrolet chassis, you should have your rear spring shackles checked to make certain that they aren't cracked. We had one break off and come up through the floor, just missed the edge of the bath tub. We noticed that the carpet was hooved up. We thought the waterline has broken to the tub, but the carpet was not wet. We found out the trouble was the broken shackle. We had both shackles replaced.
