Ray, I recently pulled a couple of V-10's from the Ford F-53 chassis. I first dropped the straight-axle suspension and then unbolted the front & and transmission cross members and dropped the entire assembly out of the bottom. Of course I have a lift. Do yourself a tremendous favor, install a Banks PowerPack system with the new engine. Exhaust temps drop about 300 degrees, manifold & cylinder head problems are gone forever, almost 98 more "Free" horsepower (No Tuner) and 20% better fuel economy per my customers feedback . BUT.... Like Rusty asked, what failed and why? You stated metal in oil, flush the engine oil cooler lines & REPLACE the engine oil cooler, you will NEVER get all of the shavings out of it.
Good Luck
