Since the overhaul of the Bluesmobile, there has been a leak from the front exhaust port on the driver side. I was using a well regarded brand I've used many times on other projects. I am assuming that the Gibson header flange has warped over the past 15 years and that compounds the problem. I used Remflex RFL-2036 gaskets, ARP 615-1250 bolts (stainless, 1.25", 12 point head, Summit SUM-HK-37NELW1Z external tooth lock washers, and never-seize. This seems to have solved the leak. The backstory: it seems the Gibson exhaust flange bolt holes were not properly centered. That probably led to the problems I had a year or so ago with getting the old bolts out. I resized the holes on a drill press, the new bolts fit better, aligned with the cylinder head bolt holes. happy motoring, Matt 1987 Barth 27' P32 Chassis Former State Police Command Post Chevrolet 454 Weiand Manifold, Crane Cam, Gibson Exhaust | |||
