Does anyone know what the torque spec is for the spark plugs on a Chevy 454?

GM calls for torque of 17-27 ft/lbs (not too fussy about the range I guess!)

The 86 P30 manual is a pdf on this site. Also good info in the "Chevrolet Motor Home Chassis Service Guide" on the BM CD.

Just do like Dad always said "tight as they will go and a half-turn more!" (Then we'll talk about Easy-outs and helicoil inserts!) ROTFLMAO

My Dad always said, tighten it until it strips, then back off a quarter turn.

Thanks, looks like my target is 22Ft/Lbs.

Haha yeah I'm pretty happy someones Dad didn't install my old plugs, I'm super happy they came out, popped pretty good but came out. Sure looks like they were original. Then I'm looking at my exhaust manifold thinking I wonder if those bolts will come out? I had to break a couple of my fingers so I wouldn't try it! I don't need that mess right now.
