Has anyone installed a Xantrex RS2000 or RS3000 in their coach? I am looking to go this route but space is limited noise and heat are a big concern. I will probably go with the RS3000 as the size of the units is the same and the extra power would be nice to have. Ed, I have the 3000 installed in mine. Will try to take some photos of the install for you. It is installed on the wall of the end of bed next to the engine area. It has a 140 amp 3 stage charger in it.. sky 1990 Barth Regency 32RDGB1 Wide Body 3208 Cat 250 HP Gillig Chassis Center aisle

Thanks Sky! This where I am planning to install mine but just a bit concerned about the clearance to the drop down door that accesses the area. If push comes to shove, I may have to cut some more vent lines in the door. I cut the door down so that is it a flush fit so I gave up some of the depth behind the door. I will have about 1/2 inch clearance to the Xantek unit when all is there. How about fan noise? Ed, here is a link for the pics. The cooling fan does come on, but is not that bad, compared to other fans, it is pretty quiet when it is running,. We pay no mind to it. sky Prosine pics 1990 Barth Regency 32RDGB1 Wide Body 3208 Cat 250 HP Gillig Chassis Center aisle

Ed, have you considered installing it in an outside storage bin? I have a Prosine 2500, and that is where it is going to go, mainly to keep battery leads short and keep the noise away. . 84 30T PeeThirty-Something, 502 powered

Yes, I have considered a storage bin for the inverter/charger. Problem is cable length, to the nearest storage bin, just ahead of the 44 gallon propane tank and rear wheels is about 4 feet longer then going to the foot of the bed. I am actually considering building a small blocked off area inside the engine compartment with fresh air routing, might be the best compromise. The only other area (besides the compartment at the foot of the bed) would be in the area above the batteries but that will cut down the fresh air to the engine, Would be the cool side of the engine but---will see! I'm looking at doing something similar and the only good spot I can find is in the engine compartment. But I am looking at just putting in a big inverter (2500-4000) and then a smart charger. Hoping to find one that works on both US and Europian power. Lots of the new switching power supplies are multi-voltage and will take 100-240 vac input. Just take a lot of amps to keep up with the AC. I would them have to build my own switching circuit to change from external power to internal or just run everything inside from the inverter. I did my own switching circuit for the system I have now BUT I used the quasi-sine wave inverter and the microwave will not put out full power with these style inverters so I am going to change to a pure sine wave type. I have done all the math and I can get a RS3000 for about the same money as separate units and reduce a lot of hassle of switching circuits. Wife never figured it out! I will have 4 Rolls (Surrette) S530 HC deep cycle batteries which will give >800 amp hours at a 100 hr rate. That should keep up with a 3000 watt inverter. I have to rewire my AC panel anyway (it is a real mess as it came from the factory!) so all this would be a good time to incorporate the new stuff. With the activities that I use the RV for (besides dry camping) I use a LOT of AC power as well as DC power. My ham rigs alone will draw 50-100A of 12 VDC when transmitting. I still have dreams of shipping the Barth to Europe and need to take that into consideration. '92 Barth Breakaway - 30' 5.9 Cummins (6B) 300+ HP 2000 Allison Front entrance

I had my RV techs pull out the original inverter charger and put in the Prosine 2000, it works great. It's installed below the bed in the same place the OEM unit was. 1990 Regency 32 Center Aisle Spartan Chassis CTA8.3 Cummins 240HP 4 spd Allison 7.5 Diesel Genset Pac-brake Prosine 2000 Mickey's on the Rear Toyos front
