Can anybody tell me what is the towing capacity of 1988 BARTH REGAL 25CB?
We are new to Barth. We love vintage and are considering downsizing from our 1988 Bluebird Wanderlodge. But we need to tow a Jeep CJ7 behind it. Will 1989 BARTH REGAL 25CB be able to pull this 2,600 lbs Jeep?
I spent hours online and can't find the answer.
Help please!

A good question indeed. When we look at the Data Tags for most of the coaches we find that many are at or near GVWR even when empty.

Adding the load of any trailer will add some tongue weight to the rear suspension and increase the stopping distance. However, with a tow bar setup the tongue weight is minimal. With trailer brakes the stopping distance is not compromised as much.

It depends on the strength of the trailer hitch on the Barth. Also, transmission, engine size and axle ratios are factors. The 454 big block would likely be adequate but some of the smaller coaches had small block 350 engines.

I had a 33ft tag axle Regal with the 454 engine. I pulled a VW bus with it. The extra load was apparent when climbing hills and when braking.

With a good hitch, trailer brakes and minimal tongue weight it should be possible. Perhaps some of our members have a similar setup and can comment.

Thank you all. That table sure helps. Now I have to figure out all the data for the coach we are looking for to buy, get my calculator out, and hope for the best!
One more time, I greatly appreciate you guys.
