On my 21' Barth the water tank under the sofa leaks whether filled from hose or potable fill. Looks like I will have to take sofa out to get a look at the tank. Anyone know how the potable fill hooks onto the tank? The leak is out of the bottom front of the tank. thanks, ted

Check the drain hose fitting at the bottom of the tank. If it's leaking there, redo the clamps and refill. Also, when using the potable water fill, that hose has a tendency to leak at the connection to the tank. I always use city fill to avoid that problem

I think the city water also goes into the tank, then leaks out; and to get to the bottom of the tank I have to take sofa out then tank out or do I? I get the Mh tomorrow and will get more info and get it registered on Monday-it passed CA SMOG!

As I recall, on my 85 Regal, the city water fill when into the fresh water tank at or near the top of the tank. The drain was at the bottom. Just check to see if it's the connections that are leaking rather than a crack in the tank itself. If the tank is cracked, then you have no option other than to remove/replace it.

Depending on the material used for the tank, you may be able to patch with epoxy and glass cloth/mat. Epoxy will adhere to ABS but not so well with polyethylene. My black water tank was successfully patched that way (before I owned the coach) and has held up so far.

The odds are that you have a cracked line, valve or fitting. You should have a valve to shut off to prevent filling you water tank when connected to city water. If you are leaking water with fill valve shut off, then your tank is not your problem. If using city water make sure you are not filling you tank with valve off. You will overfill your tank, and if infill is faster than overflow you could explode your tank or blow your potable hose off.

[----thanks all for your input-I took sofa out in 2 pieces, and the water tank had a crack by the outflow tank line, lower corner. Tried epoxy, no success, took it in to a plastic welder who will use heat to melt the crack together. The city water can fill the tank via a valve, or it can be filled via potable side inlet. There are two drains-potable tank and hot water tank.
