Leaky. I have the propane valve removed and see there are a couple of gaskets which need replacement. One is the O ring at the end of the valve (shutoff end) which is completely gone, just some white residue remaining; and the other is a larger plastic flat ring higher up the valve where it seals the tap spindle.

My dumb question is - will a standard rubber gasket work? Or is there a special material for propane?

update - after removing the residue, it seems both gaskets are white plastic. There is an intermediate one which is rubber though. So will probably just check at an RV place.

Ian I think you will have to check with a propane supplier. Propane tank valve seals are not normally replaced. High liability!

I am looking forward to seeing what you find. My tank valve will leak a bit when closing and opening. All closed or all open is leak free. It is on my list of things to check. I’m thinking it will be a new valve replacement.

Sooo... no luck on getting replacement seals. So I had a new valve installed. More money, but no worries about the seals being the correct size.

Yes, it was really stuck.
