Warning Buzzer
I was going to wait and bring this up in conversation in Goshen at the GTG but.... I am looking at some weather.

Every time I drive a wet road the buzzer alarm goes on and stays on ontil it dries out.

So water is making a bad short to make it go off. How the heck do I find it?

My Barth came equipped with an "impaired traction warning" buzzer. I don't drive in the rain, so it seldom buzzes. Never tested it in snow.

Good Question

The alarm buzzer that gors off for all things nasty like overheat, low air pressure, low oil pressure. It is located in the console to the left of the drivers seat. Beneath the leveler control. Being an old farmboy I can find by feel many sound generator so when it goes off after I verify nothing is actually wrong I am able to find it while driving by touch and unplug it. Problem is this nullifies the ability to be audibly informed if something is really wrong. Dangerous!

When it alarms it does not start as normal but starts chirping and builds slowly to the buzz that you normal hear. Water permeating and conducting. I don't know where or how to start to look. I assume it is in all the wires in front of the driverside front wheel in the jumble of wires by the electrical compartment. That is just speculation because it could be any wire in all the alarm circuits.

The moisture can be very slight so no traction issues. The way the buzzing builds I'm sure it's water intrusion. That was a good suggestion

Well I went after this issue today. No a single person had any ideas for me? My thought was if water is causing the issue let it find the issue. I suspected where the issues were. In the huge rats nest knot of wires at the back of the exterior wiring panel, just ahead of the drivers side tire.

I took and parked DBarth on the most sloped part of the driveway, crammed the wheels to the right and turned on the hose. Started hosing the wires with DBarth running and Lynn monitoring it while I worked over the wires. BINGO on came the alarm. Because of the volume of water no gradual build. Hard buzz. I couldn't pick out the offender but I know where the offender is.

Snipped all the zip ties and unscrewed the clamps. Untangled the spaghetti rats nest of wires and was showered with a gooky mess of water and black tire /road dust turned mud.

Started up DBarth again and ran water over and into the plastic protectors and couldn't get a peep out of the alarm. Moving the wires must have eliminated the puddle point that was creating the issue.

After things dry out I will look them over and neatly, organize and refasten the wires a bit more forward to better protect them from a blowout or road debris.

Case should be closed. I was surprised how well the wires inside those bundles are marked. Printed descriptions on the wire itself. Wow

Lesson Let the problem help with the solution. Water created the problem and helped me corfirm where and eliminate the issue.
